Thanks for checking out my site. Everyone taking a class from me receives my personal dedication to teaching firearms safety and proficiency. You will always receive an exceptional level of service. My students receive unique opportunities to participate in Group Buys, tailored to offer them incredible pricing on popular firearm and defense related products.Make sure to send me an email if you want your name added to my list of classes I offer throughout the year. Email is my main contact with my students and interested parties. This method also allows for you to easily be in direct contact with me. I normally will not announce my Group Buys on this web site. Only through email do I get the word out... So, hit the Contact tab above, and send me an email, otherwise, keep reading if you choose......If you are a firearm owner and reading this, then congratulations on seeking out firearm training. The overwhelming majority of firearm owners have little instruction or none. The advantage of formal instruction should be first and foremost weapon safety on the range and anywhere else a weapon is used. Secondly, it will help you maximize either your enjoyment of shooting, or equip you to be more effective in the potential self defensive use of a firearm. There are many other advantages to seeking out training, so we encourage you to attend any and all of my classes that interest you.We use mostly steel targets, barricades, and Airsoft in our training. Steel is incredibly fun to shoot, and with the right targets, incredibly safe at distances closer than you would think. Additionally, no re-set, and that satisfying ring when properly struck. Barricades to help force you into potential uncomfortable positions, and Airsoft to safely allow pushing the envelope on tactics. Never stop looking to learn and attending classes. As an Instructor, I never stop learning so you will always come away with many techniques to use in any situation. Never stop your own pursuit to be the most responsible, and educated gun owner you can be. Be safe and be well.

Feedback-Comments
What Clients are Saying
Hi, Matt: This is just some feedback on your Premier Tactical Training on Jan. 9th. On a scale of one to ten with ten being the highest, I would rate it a ten. It was very good and the people helping you like Phil and Lee were outstanding. Keep up the good work!NedFrom Randy Below after a 1 Day Basic Carbine ClassIn the classroom we talked about and actually disassembled and reassembled our rifles. We were shown key points on how to pick out and install a sling. Never thought about it before but the sling is your holster for your rifle. At the range, we verified and made adjustments to the rifles making sure they were zeroed. We zeroed at 50 yards but discussed thoroughly the advantages and disadvantages of zeroing at shorter and longer distances. Assuming a prone position at 50 yards, we dialed the sights in. Out of 8 students we all had a different sighting system. Each student was individually helped and trained to work with their own system. Once zeroed, we moved forward to 10 yards, fired a few rounds and reviewed how the mechanical offset of the sights and barrel changed the point of impact on the targets. Each of us became aware of the need to aim high when shooting up close. 3-4 volleys of fire ensued that ingrained the need for correct sight alignment at these closer distances. Many times this hold over would be critical for exact shot placement. We were schooled on a basic shooting stance, a fairly square stance. This stance works well for shooting and transitioning to other stances, movement or a change to another weapon. Much of the instruction was a direct correlation to shooting pistols, of which I am very familiar. Grip pressure, forward support hand position to control the weapons front end. Finger on and off the trigger at the correct time, safety on and off, trigger pull, bringing the weapon to a more centered hold, bringing the rifle to your point of aim, not a hunched over position. We worked on positions for low ready and high ready and when they are appropriate. And instruction was given to shooting with both-eyes-open. This was a basic rifle class, so more advanced techniques were demonstrated and talked about but not dwelled on. As our instructor Matt Pimentel said, "It is all about safety".When we were close, the mechanical offset was very apparent. While shooting at different distances of 25 yards, 10 yards, 7 yards and even 5 yards, the hold over for the mechanical offset started to become second nature.Prone, sitting and free standing instruction was given more than twice. Everyone had a great chance to hear, try, and retain what they were learning. Emergency reloads, tactical reloads and malfunction clearances were practiced multiple times until everyone became quite familiar with what to do with each type of malfunction. The course lasted a full 8 hours, it seemingly began and started in just a blink of an eye for me. I learned about stance with a rifle, how to stand for better recoil control, mechanical offset control and how to handle a rifle in a smooth consistent manner. This class gave me many tools to create a better shooting experience. It was a great day. Randall Priester

This will be a page where I can easily add content, or just keep a running page of thoughts.
General CCW Info: As of February 2010 concealed handguns are for the first time legal in all but 3 of the nation's 391 national parks and wildlife refuges so long as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations are adhered to. Previously firearms were allowed into parks non-concealed and unloaded.Nevada State related: Nevada AB143 has been signed by the governor. It will take effect October 1 of this year. Qualify with one semi auto now authorizes any semi auto.Arizona State Related-Nevada has reported they will start to honor AZ CCW permits including non-resident effective 7/1/11. Contact- AZ DPS CCW Unit, Phoenix, AZ. 602-256-6280. This will allow for the lawful carry in Nevada without having to travel to Nevada and attend a course there for Non-Residents. Az is less expensive also.UTAH State Related- Bureau of Criminal Identification Telephone: 801-965-4445. This Non-Resident permit allows for the CCW in many other states. Possibly the most popular permit desired by a non-resident due to its broad coverage.Florida State Related- (850) 245-5691. Typically with this State Non-Resident permit added, you have the very most coverage in all States that allow for a Non-Resident to carry a concealed firearm.Looking for More information about Concealed Carry in the State of California and other Firearm related information?Calguns.net Join this forum and unlock the power of CA residents banded together to enjoy lawful ownership of firearms. Excellent resource for all things Firearm. This is a must visit. For all other Concealed carry information as it relates to individual States, just take the States name and add "CCW" to it in Google. Search that, and you should easily be at that States governing agency for CCW.Tips for Improving Accuracy with a HandgunTypically what I see the single most common issue for just about 80-90% of shooters is not applying enough support hand high enough, nor with as much pressure as needed. When I have a student with a flinch, jerk, anticipation and other issues with trigger control, I encourage them to grip tighter with their support hand.If the strength of your grip is coming from your shooting hand, then you are giving up trigger control in the tightness of that grip. Your shooting hand in a supported grip needs to be somewhat relaxed in a effort to maximize trigger control.Make a fist, and squeeze your fingers much like on a grip of a handgun. Now try to isolate out the tension in your other fingers from your trigger finger. It cannot be done. You cannot relax one finger independent from your other fingers. Or, at least it is very difficult to do so.So, by squeezing with your shooting hand, you are allowing for the introduction of more movement in the firing process. Here is a link to a Todd Jarrett you tube video that is just the simplest way of explaining proper grip.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysa50-plo48In addition to teaching this grip style, I also will get a student's hands in the proper supported grip.Next I make two marks with a sharpie near where the shooting thumb overlaps on the support hand/thumb area, and then a few inches down from there. Now, a student has a visual cue to remind themselves how to get their support hand in the proper place. I will have them look to insure they have the proper grip once they have presented the handgun out all the way, and tilting their hands up slightly to insure their lines match up before shooting.Just having students achieve this grip style typically makes a huge difference in control and accuracy. In addition, I encourage a 65%-70% grip strength in a supported grip to come from their support hand. Remember the importance of relaxing more your shooting hand as I had typed earlier? With the majority of your grip on the handgun coming from your support hand, you can now concentrate more on careful smooth manip of that trigger. To help you induce that needed strength on the handgun, try raising your elbows as you press in with your support hand. You will find that just by doing this, you can leverage more strength to the grip.Keep your elbows slightly bent so that less recoil is transmitted into your shoulders, jarring your whole body. Elbows locked, and you have less of the suspension effect that can come from slightly bent ones.I just recently had a student with control issues. His grip was pretty good. He still anticipated, and would shoot on occasion low/left. Seeing how the grip was not as much of an issue, except that he was not gripping strong enough with his support hand, I then had him understand the mechanics of his trigger. Where I explained to him just how it functioned. (Glock pistol)When he understood how that take up was basically loading the striker, and then the trigger bar would hit on the connector dropping the trigger bar from the striker and firing the gun, he was able to concentrate better on his trigger control. So, understand how your trigger works. Have an idea of its movement and release. This understanding for him made a massive improvement. So now, he needed a way to re-enforce positive trigger manip. So, when he would place a shot outside his desired area, I would have him stop, unload, and dry fire practice 4-5 times right there. Then, reload, and continue the drill. If at any time he missed, it was unload and a few reps of dry fire immediately. You can also use a ball and dummy drill. One loaded round, followed by six dummy, and one loaded again. Here a shooter can work through some trigger control, and at the same time develop a little of the clearance of a failure to fire drill also.He shoots that live round first, followed by dummy rounds as he works out that anticipation issue. lastly, his efforts to gain trigger control will be rewarded by that last round in the mag impacting exactly where he wanted it to be.I have students shoot rather close 2-3 yards. With the focus on slow, perfect practice, and make the rounds fired all touch. So, on a 3" circle as how my targets are set up (One sheet of target paper with (24) 3" circles)they draw and fire one, re-holster, and fire another for a total of 3 on that circle. Always with a presentation each time. Slow fire, no time constraints.I want a student to understand if they had all the time in the world, how accurate can they be. It's easier to build speed on an excellent understanding of how to achieve accuracy. Just about anyone can miss fast.Try that drill. The 3 rounds touching at 3 yards with a presentation each time. If you can do that say for a total of 4 circles, and 12 rounds fired, you have in my humble opinion a developed sense of accuracy. For more difficulty, same distance, how about shooting hand only? And if that's not enough challenge, try an un-holster with a transition to your support hand (DO THIS SLOWLY TO DEVELOP CONFIDENCE) each time and run that same 4 circles, 12 rounds fired. Always, with a un-holster each time.Okay, and one last tip... When pressing the trigger for additional control, try associating a sound, or a tone to how the trigger should be pressed.Like...pppppprrrrrreeeeeessssss.... You will find for those who anticipate, they are more pressing the trigger like this if applied a tone to...pppppprrrrrreeeeeeS!! With that sudden expressed "S" being the gun firing. You can do this out loud, or in your mind. I have witnessed this also help a student with smoothing out his press.
